Viewy Privacy Policy
Last updated 29 September 2026 · Direbark LLC, a New Mexico limited liability company
At a glance
Viewy is a media player. We do not host, provide, select or control the channels you watch — you supply those. We do not ask you to create an account, we do not run advertising or analytics SDKs, and we do not record what you play.
1. Who this covers
This policy applies to the Viewy apps for iPhone, iPad and Apple TV, and to direbark.com and viewy.us. "Viewy" means those apps; "we" and "us" mean Direbark LLC, a limited liability company organised in New Mexico, United States.
2. Information you give us
To use Viewy you enter your provider's server address, and the username and password your provider issued you. These are stored on your device — the password in the device's Keychain — and are sent only to the provider you entered them for. They are not transmitted to us, they are not copied to your other devices, and we cannot read them.
If you write to us for support, we receive whatever you put in that message — typically your email address and a description of the problem.
3. Information collected automatically
If you have opted in to sharing analytics with developers in your device settings, Apple sends us crash reports and performance data. These are aggregated by Apple and do not identify you. We collect nothing else automatically from the apps.
4. What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address (unless you write to us), precise location, contacts, photos, advertising identifier, or any record of which channels you watch or when. Viewy contains no third-party advertising SDK, no analytics SDK and no cross-app tracking.
5. The content you watch
Viewy is a player, not a content service. When you open a stream, your device connects directly to your provider's server. That traffic does not pass through our servers, and we keep no log of it. Your relationship with that provider — including what they collect about you — is governed by their terms and their privacy policy, not ours.
6. Our trending list
Viewy's Explore screen shows titles that are popular now. Direbark compiles that list from publicly available sources and publishes it as files at api.direbark.com, which the app downloads when its copy is more than six hours old. The request carries no account identifier and nothing about what you watch. As with any web service, our host records standard server logs which may include IP addresses; these are retained for a short period for operational and security purposes and are not used to build a profile of you.
7. Companies we rely on
Apple Inc. distributes the apps and handles any purchase, subscription or refund. Apple's own privacy policy governs that relationship; we receive only aggregate sales reporting. If you use iCloud, Apple also keeps your favourites, collections and watch history in step between your devices; that data sits in your own iCloud account, and we cannot read it.
Cloudflare serves direbark.com, viewy.us and the trending list described above.
Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons, run by the Wikimedia Foundation, supply cast names, short biographies and photos. To fetch them the app sends the name or identifier of the film or person on screen — not anything about you.
OpenSubtitles supplies subtitles when you search for them. The app sends an identifier for the film or episode and the languages you chose, and your OpenSubtitles username and password only if you add your own account.
Trakt is contacted only if you connect your Trakt account, and only to read your Trakt watchlist. Viewy does not send Trakt what you watch.
Each of these services has its own privacy policy, which governs how it handles a request.
We do not sell or share personal information with anyone, and we have never done so.
8. Retention and security
Because your provider details stay on your device, deleting the app removes them. Support emails are kept for 12 months and then deleted. Traffic between the app and our trending list is encrypted in transit. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Legal bases (EEA, UK and Switzerland)
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, data-protection law asks us to say why we may use each piece of personal information we hold. There are only three:
- Your support emails — to answer the message you sent us, which is a service you asked for, and our legitimate interest in helping people who use Viewy.
- Server logs, which may include IP addresses — our legitimate interest in keeping our websites and the trending list working and secure.
- Crash reports — your consent, which you give or withdraw in your device's settings and which Apple collects on our behalf.
Nothing else about you reaches us, so there is nothing else to justify. Direbark LLC is the controller of this information.
10. International transfers
Direbark LLC is based in the United States, and so are the companies that carry our email and serve our websites. A support email or a server log from Europe is therefore handled in the United States. Where the law requires it, these transfers rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, which those providers offer.
11. Children
Viewy is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, write to us and we will delete it.
12. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information we hold about you, to request a copy, to have it corrected or deleted, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we hold almost nothing, most such requests are answered quickly. Write to the address in section 14 and we will respond within the period your law requires.
In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland you may also ask us to restrict or stop using your information, object to our use of it where we rely on legitimate interests, and receive it in a portable form. We answer within one month. You may also complain to the data-protection authority where you live or work — though we would be glad to hear from you first.
California residents: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA.
13. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page, and for anything significant we will note it in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Viewy after a change means you accept the revised policy.
